Ernest Dale Smith, 94, of Kittanning, passed away on November 3, 2017 at the James E. Zandt VA Medical Center - Altoona.

He was born on February 5, 1923 to Oscar Phillip and Olive (Wilson) Smith in Dayton, PA. Ernest worked as a Entrepreneur. He enjoyed growing Christmas trees, working on the farms, driving coal trucks and driving Mack trucks to haul steel. He was a member of Pleasant Union Lutheran Church. Ernest also served with the Army Air Force during WW II.

Ernest is survived by his wife Betty J. (Lasher) Smith, they were married for 62 years on December 18, 1954; son - Phillip G. and wife Cathy A. (Kijowski) Smith of Kittanning; daughter - Karen L. (Smith) and husband Dr. Douglas R. Blais of Indiana; two grandsons - Justin P. and wife Stephanie (Hlavna) Smith of NC and Kevin D. Blais of Indiana; great-granddaughter - Eloise E. Smith of NC; and his sister - Helen Kiffer of Kittanning.

He was preceded in death by his Parents - 2 brothers - Paul Smith and Dean Smith and 4 sisters -Margaret Bittinger, Florence Wagner, Mona Rea, and Ruby Myers.

Visitation will be held at the Pleasant Union Lutheran Church, Little Rock Rd. Kittanning on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 from 10 am until the time of the services at 11 am with Pastor Dennis Hindman officiating.

Burial will take place in the Pleasant Union Lutheran Cemetery.
