Dale "Bud" Schrecongost, 82, of Dayton, passed away on February 8, 2012 at his residence. He was born on April 7, 1929 in Armstrong Co. to Harold and Mary Lucille (Hawkins) Schrecongost. Dale worked as a Mechanic for Curly Moore Chevrolet in Rural Valley for 38 years. He was also a well know Gunsmith, having owned and operated Schrec's Gun Shop. He was a member of NRA and Ohio Gun Club. He enjoyed hunting, going to camp, flea marketing and teaching his grandson Jason the trade of Gunsmithing. He was an Army veteran. Dale is survived by his loving Companion of 24 years, Kathryn Garvey; 3 sons - Brady Schrecongost of Dayton, PA, Kirby Schrecongost Sr. of FL, Jodey Schrecongost and wife Karen of Dayton, PA; 4 grandchildren - Jason, Kristen, Donnie and Kirby, Jr. Schrecongost; Brother - Jack Schrecongost and wife Donna of Wauconda, IL and a Brother-in-Law - William Boyer. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister - Betty Boyer, daughter-in-law, Karina Schrecongost, Step-Brother - Dale "Sunny" Schrecongost and Step-Mother - Velma Boyer Schrecongost. Visitation will be held on Friday February 10, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 at the Carson/Boyer Funeral Home, Inc, 724 Main St. Rural Valley, PA. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 11:00 AM with Pastor Dennis Howard officiating. Burial will take place in St. Paul's Cemetery.
