NORA MARGARET (PEG) REEFER

Nora Margaret (Peg) Reefer, 95, of Dayton, PA (Wayne Twp), passed away on May 7, 2018 at Kittanning Care Center. She was born March 10, 1923 in Mosgrove, PA, to Melvin Claire and Mary Gladys (Thomas) Porter.

Margaret was married to Ralph Clair Rupp for 22 years (deceased 1964), Marion "Skinner" Harmon for one year (deceased 1979), and John Reefer for 18 years (deceased 1999).

She is survived by daughter, Carol A. (Rupp) Crawley, of Alton VA; son, Larry D. Rupp (wife, Jacqueline) of Dayton; daughter, Sandra L. (Rupp) Kustaborder of Altoona, PA; son, Terry A. Rupp (wife, Beverly) of Dayton; 11 grandchildren: Kim Crawley, Scott Crawley, Carla Ito, Elaine Seate, Kara Kirkpatrick, Michelle Habeeb , Jason Rupp, Laura Kustaborder, David Kustaborder, Josh Rupp and Jake Rupp; 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson. Also surviving her are siblings: sister, Sara Grinder of Zelienople, PA; brother, Leland "Pete" Porter (wife, Shirley) of Dayton; and brother, George Porter (wife, Charlotte) of Nashville, TN. She also leaves behind extended families through her subsequent marriages. Suffice it to say, she had a huge heart and loved every child and grandchild as though they were all her own.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; brother, Myron Porter; sister, Wilma Jean Clark; son-in-law, Leroy M. Crawley; and son-in-law, Paul Kustaborder.

For most of her adult life, she resided outside of Dayton PA. Margaret was a loving sister, wife, mother and grandmother. It was often said that the definition of "doting grandmother" included a picture of Margaret. Whatever the need, she was there.

Margaret was, first of all, a homemaker and mother. She often worked alongside Ralph in the fields of the family farm. When he passed, she took on various jobs--from school cafeteria to restaurant cook to seamstress. Margaret was always busy. Aside from all of that, she was probably best known for being a fantastic baker. She baked tens of thousands of wedding cookies during her "retirement", and her apple dumplings and homemade rolls were items for which family and friends would compete.

She was a lifetime member of Glade Run Presbyterian Church, Dayton, PA. She served the church loyally in many capacities as long as her health allowed her to do so. She also was a long-time member of Woodmen of the World.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, May 11, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Carson/Boyer Funeral Home in Rural Valley, Pa. Additional visitation will be held at Dayton Glade Run Presbyterian Church on Saturday, May 12 from 10 am until the time of the service at 11 am. Pastor Sheila Wadding will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Alzheimer's Research Foundation in memory of Margaret's journey. http://www.alzheimersresearchfoundation.com/
