DORIS JEAN "DOTSY" (ENTERLINE) MAFFEI

Doris Jean "Dotsy" (Enterline) Maffei of Rural Valley died peacefully on Sunday, January 13, 2019 surrounded by her family.

She was born September 17, 1922 in Yatesboro, PA to Donald and Jean (Burns) Enterline.

She graduated Rural Valley High School 1939. For the next 8 years she worked as a nanny in Squirrel Hill, a bread truck driver in Youngstown, Ohio and a clerk and assistant butcher at Palilla's Market, Rural Valley. After her marriage to Joseph James "JJ" Maffei in 1947, she became a home maker and mother to six children. The couple also opened their home to exchange students, Swiet of Indonesia 1962-63 and Patti Lou of Mexico in 1979-80.

Fondly nicknamed "Queen Mum" by her family, she cooked every Sunday for kids, grandkids and great-grandkids until she was 90. She loved when everyone gathered around her tables and always proclaimed "It just isn't Sunday till the family is here". Living next to Shannock Valley High School, her doors were always open to students, faculty and friends and she also enjoyed working in the elementary school cafeteria. She was a generous woman who gave selflessly to anyone in need and eagerly collected donations for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life. She loved cheering for the Pirates and Steelers, making crafts for the church bazaar and Rural Valley Pumpkinfest and making Sock Monkeys for all her grandkids.

Dotsy was a lifelong member of Yatesboro Presbyterian Church and later NuValley Presbyterian Church. She was proud of her German and Scottish heritage and grateful for the eventual opportunity to travel to both countries.

She is survived by children Ricky J. (Charlotte) and Thomas (Carolyn) of Rural Valley, Jolene (Guido) Formaini of Kittanning, Mary (Mike) Koma of Rural Valley, Cheri Maffei and Joe Wolff of Richmond, VA, son-in-law Dave Dentler of California, sister Peggy (Chuck) Klodell of Newberry, Florida, grandchildren Stacy (Chris) Burt, Michael (Susan) Koma, David (Melissa) Koma, Damon (Lee Ann) Formaini, Adele (Nik) Del Greco, Nathan (Kristen) Formaini, Christina (Beau) Mullins, Justin Maffei, Ben (Sarah) Maffei and Ben's mother Aimee Kaufman, and Emma, Ian, and Evan Wolff.
