MARY "EVELYN" JORDAN

Mary "Evelyn" Jordan, age 96, of state route 1028 Dayton, PA (Bryan) was called to her eternal rest on December 19, 2018 at the hospice home in Cabot, PA. Her granddaughters Debbie and Cindy were with her when she opened her eyes and smiled and took her last breath.

She was born June 23, 1922 in Bryan, PA., the daughter of the late Samuel Cogley and Erma McGaughey Cogley. She was married to John A. Jordan who preceded her in death on September 22, 1990.

She attended the First Church of God in Dayton. Se was the churches organist for many years, taught Sunday school, sang and played the piano, sang and played at many hymn sings at the church and in the community. She loved to go to nursing homes to play and study with them. She loved going to His Place in Dayton where she taught and worked crafts with the children. She enjoyed sitting down in her home and studying her Bible with one of her friends for hours. Her greatest joy was serving the Lord and being a caregiver for others. She served and worked in many churches around Dayton.

Evelyn sold Avon in the towns around her for many years. She also loved to camp with her husband and family. In her younger days she liked to fish.

She is survived by three children, John "Sonny" (Bonnie) Jordan of Dayton, Gerald "Jerry" (Linda) Jordan of Dayton, and Jane (Brent) Rearick of Brockway. Surviving grandchildren are Rhonda (Dave) Nolf, Kin (Tom) Smolen, Jackie (Darryl) Rodack, Suzanne (Michael) Costello, Cindy (Tom) Wilson, Debbie (Jack) Hechendorn, Brian (Tracy) Rearick, Michael (Kristy) Rearick, and Jonell (David) Volpe. She also has 18 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren. She was so proud of her family and loved being with them.

Friends will be received from 10-12 on Saturday December 22, 2018 at the First Church of God in Route 839 in Dayton, where a celebration of life will immediately follow at 12 PM with Pastor Kenny Seidler officiating. Burial will follow in the Copenhaver Crossroads Cemetery. Memorial Donations may be made to the First Church of God in memory of Evelyn. Arrangements are being handled by the Carson/Boyer Funeral Home, Inc., Rural Valley.
