Richard E. Henderson, Sr., 62, of Rural Valley (Atwood), passed away on January 3, 2019 at his residence.

He was born on December 6, 1956 to William and Annabelle (Prugh) Henderson in Kittanning. Richard was a Coal Miner, working for various companies. He was a member of UMWA Local 1412. Richard loved to hunt, vacation, go to camp with friends, and watch his grandsons play sports.

Richard is survived by his wife Diane (Kromer) Henderson, whom he married October 9, 1976; mother - Annabelle Henderson of Shelocta; son - Richard (Cynthia) Henderson, Jr. of Cambridge Springs, PA; daughter - Kelli (Troy) Wingard of Homer City; 4 grandsons - Steele, Levi, and Asa Henderson, and Gage Wingard; brother - William E. (Sally) Henderson of Shelocta; sister - Shelby A. McGaughey of Shelocta; mother-in-law - Helen Kromer of Kittanning; three brother-in-laws - Ken (Bev) Kromer of Kittanning, Roger (Sandy) Kromer of Kittanning, and John Kromer of Atwood; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by father - William D. Henderson and father-in-Law - Russel Kromer.

Visitation will be held Sunday, January 6, 2019, 2 - 4 & 6 - 8 pm at Carson/Boyer Funeral Home, Inc, 724 W. Main St. Rural Valley, PA.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 7, 2019, 11:00 am at the Funeral Home with his nephew, Rev. Steve Kromer, officiating.

Burial will take place in the Atwood Cemetery.
