KATHRYN ANN DICKEY

Kathryn Ann Dickey, 85, of Rural Valley died July 28, 2017 at Kittanning Care Center. She was born July 15, 1932 in Brookville to Ivan Brinkley, Sr. and Margaret Belle Brady. Ann was a member of the class of 1950 at Shannock Valley High School.

A member of the Rural Valley United Methodist Church for 62 years and held many former offices, Sunday school teacher, Board secretary, church historian, trustee, auditor and also a choir member.

Ann belonged to the Rural Valley Fire Dept.'s Ladies Auxiliary for over 50 years holding may offices and at the current time, still holding the office of treasurer and Chaplin. Suring her working years, she was employed by Charles D. Moore at Moore's Market for 12 years and Donald Dixon at Dixon's Market for 22 1/2 years. After retiring from Dixon's, she volunteered at Rural Valley Helping Hands for 16 years. Ann was an auditor for Rural Valley Borough for 40 years retiring in 2005. She was also a member of the election board. Ann was an avid reader and Steelers fan.

Surviving are her son James Forrest Dickey and wife Carol of Kittanning; granddaughter - Michelle McGary and husband Tom; great-granddaughters - Ashley and Makayla; brother - Ivan Brinkley, Jr. of Norman, OK; greatly loved sister-in-law - Maxine Patterson and husband Bob; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 1/2 years, James Dickey, Jr., whom died in 2009; her parents; step-mother - Mayme Watson Brinkley; 4 sisters - Helen Anderson, Ann Ferguson, Evelyn Sampson, and Patricia Phillippi; and 2 Brothers - Max and Donald Brinkley.

In keeping with Ann's wishes, there will be no calling hours. Graveside services are private for immediate family at Rural Valley Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Robert Brinkley officiating.
