T. LOWELL DEAN

T. Lowell Dean, 86, of Dayton was born on September 20, 1931 in Rural Valley to Thomas and Eva Dean. He spent many of his early years with his Aunt Eva and Uncle Burt Stear on the farm where he now resides. Lowell earned his bachelor's degree in chemistry and physics from Indiana State Teachers College ( now IUP), and his master's degree from The University of Pennsylvania. He was very proud of the fact that this fall his granddaughter became the third generation and sixth member of the immediate family to attend IUP. Lowell taught most of his career at Dayton High School; and after retirement, taught a year at Clarion University and a year at IUP. He was on the board and president of Rural Valley National Bank  and later on the board of Laurel Bank.

He married his wife, Marybeth (Buhite) Dean on December 22, 1979. He also leaves behind four children: Janet (Keith) Crawford of Telford; Lowell J. (Jody) Dean of Dayton; Traci (Robert) Joseph of Kittanning; and Jacqueline Gearhart (Kenneth). He is also survived by grandchildren: Lindsey (Peter) Crawford Reese of Chicago; Morgan and Jenna Joseph of Kittanning; Ryan and Mackenzie Dean of Dayton, Alisa Galbraith (Tucker) of Kittanning, and great grandson, Carson Delano, of Kittanning. He was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter, Casey Dean. 

Family and Friends will be received on Monday December 18, 2017, 2-4 & 7-9 PM from the Carson/Boyer Funeral Home, Inc. 724 W. Main St. Rural Valley, PA. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 AM from the funeral Home with Pastor Dennis Howard officiating. Burial will take place in the Emory Chapel Cemetery, Dayton.
