Berton E. Colton, Sr, 77, of Rural Valley, lost his 26-year battle to cancer on May 27, 2018 at ACMH Hospital.

Bert was born on November 20, 1940 to Paul and Violet (Rearick) Colton in Rural Valley, PA. Berton was a Union Sprinkler Fitter for Local Union 669, where he was a 57-year member.

He was a member of the Rural Valley Methodist Church, a founding member of the Ding-A-Ling Sports Club, William Penn Fraternal organization, and a Rural Valley Councilman for 12 years.

Bert is survived by his three sons; Chris (Patty) Colton of Dallastown, PA, Berton Colton, Jr. of Kittanning and John Colton of Rural Valley; 7 grandchildren - Brandyn, Brady, Austin, Nick, Bryan, Jake and Josh; brother - Charles Spencer (Donna) Colton of Rural Valley; two sisters - Paula Keller of Rural Valley and Marjorie (Beryl) Little of Indiana; and sister-in-law - Linda (Bill) Thompson of Dayton.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife - Sarah C. "Sally" Colton; brother -Tim Colton; and three sisters - P. Joanne Shaffer, Harriett Kovach and Edith "Beth" Duchon.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on June 30, 2018 at the Rural Valley United Methodist Church with the Rev. Craig Lindahl officiating. Burial will take place in Rural Valley Cemetery.
