DOROTHY MAE HILTY BRICE -- Dorothy Mae Hilty Brice age 81 of Dayton, PA passed away at her home surrounded by the love of her family on May 25, 2010. --Dorothy was born on June 28, 1928 in Bryan, PA, daughter of Ola Catherine Boyer Hilty and Marley Eden Hilty. As a child she attended Cassidy one room school along with her 4 sisters and brother. She graduated from Cowanshannock High School in 1946. Dorothy worked at the telephone co. as a switch board operator in Kittanning and as a clerk at Abe Cohen's clothing store in Rural Valley. She met and married the love of her life Kenneth Paul Brice on October 21, 1950. She devoted her life to working side by side with him and then her son on their dairy farm. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, cooking, canning and spending time with her cherished family. -- Dorothy was a lifelong member of the Dayton Glade Run Presbyterian Church where she was active for many years as a Bible School and Sunday School teacher. She was a member of the Women's Association. She was also an avid supporter of the republican party. -- She will be sadly missed by her son Kenneth Mark Brice with whom she resided; her daughter Linda and son-in-law Lee Gardner of Southington, OH; her two sisters Helen (Don) Grayem of Newton Falls, OH; Winnie (Ed) Powers of Export; Sister-in-Law Evelyn Barrett of Dayton, PA; her cherished nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; step grandchildren Rick (Joan) Gardner, Diane (Jeff) Solary, step great grandchildren Lauren and Sean Solary and special friends Warren (Karen) Eckman and girls. -- She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth (DOD -Nov, 3, 1995); her parents Ola and Marley Hilty; mother and father-in-law Ellis (Helen) Brice; two infant daughters Debra Ann and Ginger Lee; Sisters Bernice (John) Shumaker and Genevieve (Dale) Simpson; Brother Marley (Doris) Hilty; and brother-in-laws Bob and Donnie Brice and Bruce Whitesell. -- Family and Friends will be received on Thursday May 27, 2010 from 6 - 9 PM at the Carson/Boyer Funeral Home, Inc. 724 Main St. Rural Valley, PA. 16249. Services will be conducted by Dorothy's special friend Rev. Laurie Milligan at Dayton Glade Run Presbyterian Church on Friday May 28, 2010 at 1:00 PM. Additional Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to services. Interment will follow in Dayton Glade Run Cemetery. -- In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Dayton Glade Run Presbyterian Church or to the Good Samaritan Hospice, Cabot, PA. |
